Diving for Lobster during lobster season in the Florida Keys requires special equipment such as these nets and tickle sticks. Since a Florida Lobster aka crawfish swims backwards you must hold the net behind the lobster and tickle his front with the tickle stick stimulating him to escape. He then becomes entangled in the net where in you must grab the net with gloved hands, swim to the boat and toss the net over into the boat. More experienced divers can actually measure the lobster for legal size while in the water but amateurs have a designated boat person who measures the lobster and either keeps it "keepers" or throws it back into the water but on the opposite side of the boat.
