Every year I add a new stone to Jamie's Cairn. Every year I rebuild it from scratch so that each layer continues to be interesting and new because I never want to cease seeing it. I think about Jamie as I rebuild his Cairn. I remember when he was born, birthday parties, diving in the Keys, Christmas, and the Easter purple egg hunt. I think about the things we have missed sharing with him especially all the weddings and babies. He would have loved being part of these happy events in our lives. He was gone to soon and yet we hold onto him tightly because we love and miss him so.
I keep Jamie's Cairn by my front door amongst the plants. He gets the early morning sun each day, hangs out with the bromeliads, and listens to the lilting wind chimes softly ringing nearby. Next year I'll move him to a different step or change his companions but he will still be here, growing another stone higher and staying alive in our hearts.

Ginger Wakem is a fourth generation Floridian whose work has been exhibited in galleries, shops, and offices. A muralist used her nature shots to decorate the walls of local businesses. Many of her photographs were shot from a boat in the backwaters of south Florida's inlets, mangroves, and Gulf of Mexico. They have won photography contests as well as sold to multiple buyers. Her photographs of blues guitarists taken at the Tampa Bay Blues Festival are very popular and have sold multiple times. In 2023, two of her photographs were chosen and shown at the Photo Artists' International Exhibition, in Watford, England. Ginger has finished many art books for private individuals.
